MUSE VMFA AWARD - 2007

ARE-Energy one of 8 Winners of Virginia Museum MUSE Award.

In 2004 the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts established the VMFA Muse Award Program  with the intent of celebrating extraordinary creativity in business. In this, the third year of the program, the Museum received over 70 nominees. The group was then narrowed down to 8 Winners. The winners were announced at a fun filled evening May 3, 2007 at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Virginia.

ARE-Energy as a Division of American Railroad Equipment was one of the 8 Winners. Our description in the program read as follows:

Roanoke’s ARE Energy, a Division of American Railroad Equipment, LLC, has taken recycling in a powerful new direction—the conversion of obsolete locomotive engines to provide inexpensive power to emergency areas and third world countries. These units are capable of operating on multiple fuels---including bio diesel---and offer full, customized electrical controls and a set of switchgear that can be configured for Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Equipment.”

The first among the 8 winners was Intrinergy LLC, another energy related company. Intrinergy uses a “proprietary process to convert solid biomass into renewable energy through gasification and gas treatment.”

Jay Brenner, President of American Railroad Equipment, proudly accepted the award on behalf of the total company workforce.
