OUR HISTORY

ARE-Energy is a division of American Railroad Equipment which itself is a sister company of Cycle Systems with  headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia. The companies since 1980 have dismantled for parts and scrap over 600 locomotives.

The power plant concept under the name of ARE-Energy was born in 2003. This concept stemmed from the knowledge of robust characteristics and dependability of the American locomotive in the Rail Industry. Our objective was to transfer this dependability to the Power Industry.  A brief history of this development can be found under the Roanoke Times article from August 2005 and the Scrap Magazine Article form August 2006 Archive News Articles section of the website.

Today, with the combination of rail and power industry experience we are able to deliver to our customers at a competitive price high quality and dependable power plants, either as single units or as multiple units, in the 2.8 to 12 MW range.
